Biikebrennen

The 21st of February is sacred to the Frisians and Biikebrennen literally means “bonfire burning” in the Frisian dialect. This “national celebration” always takes place one day before the Feast of the Chair of St. Peter and is a ritual intended to chase away the winter. This celebration is a very joyous one, comparable with the lighting of Easter bonfires.

You will find Biikebrennen dates and more information here.
