The apartment is located on the second and third floors of a detached house on the premises of a former eel smokehouse with a total of four residential units in Westerland’s Bahnweg. It has room for up to six people, with extra beds for up to 8 guests.

The apartment is not located near a railway line as the street’s name suggests. The island steam railway ran along the Bahnweg from 1888 to 1970 at about 30km/h. Today “Bahnweg” is just a normal street.

The Aalhüs is located near the city, about a six minute walk away from Westerland’s centre. The house is clearly set back from the street behind a wall, with tall pine trees and a large parking lot (see photo). The bedroom is quietly situated towards the back. Opposite the building is the water conservation area, which means that you can enjoy green views from the living room.

The apartment’s ceilings are panelled with light-coloured wood, its furnishings are for the most part made of pine wood and its floorings have been laid in English laminate.

On the second floor you will find a living room with an open, integrated kitchen, installed in 2010, in which a dishwasher, stove etc. are available.

The living room contains a modern black lounge suite for six people as well as a dining table. In addition to this there is a telephone, a high-quality hi-fi system and a large flat-screen TV, as well as a DSL internet connection.

Leading from the living room is a south-facing balcony with further seating. In addition, the second floor offers a lavish bedroom with double bed. Here you will find a spacious wardrobe and a dresser with plenty of storage space.

The white bathroom contains a toilet, basin and bathtub. The bathtub is equipped with a large, fold-out shower screen. In the bathroom you will also find a washing machine that is available to you free of charge.

On the third floor you will find a large room with a long row of windows and two beds at each end of the room.

For group trips of 8 people, two wide air beds can be set up in the middle of the room upstairs, so that six beds are available upstairs and two below. The airbeds are 60cm thick, approx. 160cm wide and 200cm in length.

On the upper floor you also have the opportunity to relax in front of a flat-screen TV.

Adjacent to this room is a walk-in wardrobe and a small bathroom with toilet and basin.

Special features

There is a DSL flat-rate connection with 6000 MBit, which is included in the rental price. Access to wireless internet from your laptop is possible free of charge using a code.

For a one-off fee of €15.00 per person we can make your beds for you before arrival and lay out towels, however, you can also gladly bring these things with you.

Please take note of the minimum booking period indicated, whereby we prefer guest change-overs to take place on Saturday or Sunday. Outside of the peak season other days are also possible upon consultation.

How can I book an accommodation?
We distinguish between two booking types on our website. The landlord decides which type of booking he likes to offer, so that only one is possible per accommodation. You can see the valid booking type on the right side of the property listing under the price per night.

Properties with Enquiry Booking: To book an accommodation please contact the landlord by phone or via the contact form on the property listing. It is impossible to book such properties directly online on our website.

Properties with Online Booking: To book an accommodation directly and bindingly online, please enter your travel period, the number of guests and calculate the valid price. Afterwards, please complete the booking form in three easy steps. Alternatively, you can also use our telephone booking service.

Under which conditions can I book an accommodation?
Basically, the accommodation has to be vacant in your requested travel period. Furthermore, the conditions, such as max. number of guests, the minimum stay, the valid arrival and departure days have to be observed.

Please note: The rental contract is always concluded between the tenant and the landlord. Travanto is just the intermediary.

Is the accommodation vacant and bookable in my requested travel period?
In general, you are able to rent the accommodation, if your travel period is marked as vacant in the availability calendar. You can find the calendar nearly at the end of the property listing.

If a rental price can be calculated, a booking of the property is possible in your requested travel period. For further information about where and how you can calculate the rental price, please read the answer to question no. 6.

There might be vacant periods which you are unable to book. Please see question no. 16 for more information.

Is it possible to cancel my booking?
Yes, but please note that in case of a cancellation by the tenant the landlord might charge a cancellation fee. This applies in general when a rental contract has been already concluded bindingly.

How do I calculate the total rental price?
Please specify your arrival and departure dates by typing them in directly or using the calendar on the right side of this page. Alternatively, you can use the availability calendar right below the rental prices by clicking on the dates. Afterwards you enter the number of guests and, if necessary, select optional additional services. You receive the total rental price now, which includes at least the total accommodation price including the final cleaning. Surcharges for additional guests, discounts and optional additional services are also included, if stated. All prices include VAT. Whether the tourist tax is included or not is displayed below the total rental price.

Do I have to pay a security deposit?
If a security deposit is required, please see the "Additional Price Information" in the "Rental Prices" section on this page.

What happens after I have booked an accommodation?
Once you have made a binding booking, you will immediately receive a booking confirmation via e-mail. If you cannot find the e-mail in your inbox, please check also your spam folder. You will also receive the contact details of the landlord and the property address via e-mail as soon as we determine the payment receipt on our bank account.

If there are only 5 days between the booking and the arrival date, you will immediately receive the contact details of the landlord and the address of the accommodation via e-mail. In the case you booked an accommodation of our cooperation partners, you will immediately receive the booking confirmation as well as the contact details of the landlord and the property address. Please note our payment modalities and conditions at any time (see question no. 4).

Is it possible to exceed the maximum number of guests?
In general it is impossible to exceed the maximum number of guests. Not even if you organise more sleeping facilities by yourself. Children, regardless of age, are considered as a guest. The indicated rental price is only valid for the maximum possible number of guests.

Are there discounts for children?
Some properties offer special rates for children. You can recognize those accommodations, if you are asked about the amount and the age of the travelling children in the price calculation. If this is not the case, the stated prices apply to all guests (regardless of age).

Where is my accommodation located?
You can see the location of your accommodation on a map in the "Location" section on this page. Right below this map, you will find distances to interesting places e.g. city center, beach, ski lift or the next shopping possibility. Furthermore, an individual text written by the landlord gives you more information about your holiday destination.

Are pets allowed?
Whether you can bring your pets or not, please read the information in the "Features" section on this page. In general, the term "Pets not allowed" means that it is not permitted to bring any kind of pets at all.

When are the check-in and check-out times for my accommodation?
You find the check-in and check-out times under "General Information" in the "Property description" section on this page, if the landlord has entered these information. Deviations from this regulation can be discussed individually. If your arrival/departure has to be very early/late, we will gladly clarify this with the landlord, if the accommodation is only bookable online. If you chose a property with Enquiry Booking, please contact the landlord directly about this issue.

How does the handover and the return of the keys take place?
The key handover and return has to be clarified directly with the landlord. Please see question no. 18 to learn more about how and when you can contact your landlord.

Why is a price calculation impossible, even though the accommodation is vacant?
There may be various reasons for this:

  • Your travel period undercuts the given minimum stay.
  • Your desired date of arrival/departure is impossible according to the landlord's settings.
  • A gap in the calendar is impossible to rent, if it undercuts the minimum stay, e.g. A gap of three nights is not bookable, if the given minimum stay is five nights.
  • You cannot book an accommodation, if your desired travel period causes a gap which is lower than the minimum stay.
  • Your requested arrival date is too short-term.
  • Since some of our accommodations are from cooperation partners, it is possible that the given data may not be up-to-date. In this case your desired travel period may be no longer available in the price calculation.
  • 17
    My requested travel period is below the minimum stay. How can I continue?
    In this case your desired travel period is not bookable. You can extend your stay, if this is an option for you or you search for another accommodation with an appropriate minimum stay.

    If you chose a property with Enquiry Booking, please contact the landlord via phone or the contact form on this page. If no exception can be made, the minimum stay for this accommodation has to be respected.
